A rather slender perennial 23-38 cm high with few, spreading or ascending leaf y branches to the inflorescence.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) It is abundant in woods, waste ground and shady places in the southern part of Britain, but rare in the northern half.
Fleurs : verticilles écartés, tous ou presque tous dépourvus de feuille [FlorMed -> pas plus des premières 3 verticelles munis d'une feuille bractéale], en grappes grêles effilées ; pédicelles articulés sous le milieu ;
Flowers: hermaphrodite, reddish, spreading on rather slender, short pedicels and forming lax and distant whorls on spreading branches; inner fruiting perianth segments 3 x 1 mm, ovate, acute, margin entire, one segment with an almost globular tubercle, the others with none.
Flowering UK: Late June-mid Aug.
